Inquiry Report Guidelines

INQUIRY REPORT DUE ON

MARCH 20, 2008 for B-Day
MARCH 25, 2008 for A-Day

WE REVIEWED MLA CITATION FORMAT IN CLASS--IF YOU ARE CONFUSED, EMAIL ME!!!

Inquiry Report
Write about a person, a place, an event, or a thing

1. Research—do not use Wikipedia! You must have four sources (one a book). You must have the sources properly documented in your paper and on your Works Cited page.

2. Find out what else is going on! Don’t be blinded by what you are interested in. Remember that Emmett Till led to Rosa Parks which led to the bus boycott which led to the civil rights….which eventually inspired Harper Lee…..get it?

3. Who’s Who? If you are researching a band, make sure you know every person in the band, their personal lives, who are they related to, how does that affect your story?

4.What Happened? Why did it happen?

5.What ELSE happened…when you think you are done researching….then you know you are just at the beginning!

6. Paper must be at least 3 full pages and no longer than 6.

7. Paper must be in MLA format.

8. Paper should be interesting and reflect diligent and dedicated research and writing.

9. If one thing is pasted and copied (besides exact quotes that are cited) than you will FAIL!!

10. Does not need to follow a 5 paragraph essay format. However, your paper should logically flow from one idea to another.
